Obituary of Blanche Cookingham

Blanche M. Cookingham, 58, formerly of McCutcheon Lane, Saranac, died Friday, October 6, 2018 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Plattsburgh, April 1, 1960, the daughter of the late Francis J. "Fran" Sr. and Rea A. (King) Perry. Blanche grew up in Redford and graduated from Saranac High School in 1979.

She married Steven W. Cookingham, January 14, 1994 in Saranac. He predeceased her April 15, 2007.

Blanche worked for several years at the Advocacy Resource Center in Plattsburgh and also was a local home health aide.

She was a past member of the Saranac Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and currently an honorary member.

Blanche enjoyed crafting, keeping in touch on the phone nightly, and celebrating any event, but her true love was spending time with family.

Left to cherish the memory of Blanche are, her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis "Joe" Jr. and Melissa Perry of Redford, and William "Bill" and Dawn Perry of Saranac; one sister, Genevieve Favreau of Saranac; one "adopted" son and his wife, Carl and Miranda Benware; three nieces, Brittany Perry and companion, Dylan Latour, Cheyenne Goddeau and her companion, Donald Byers, and Laila Perry; three nephews, Jeremy Perry and his wife, Jamie, Joseph Perry and his wife, Marissa, and Liam Perry; four great-nieces, Reese, Leah, Peyton Perry, and Natalie; two great-nephews, Grayson Latour, and Ahriyan Byers; two "adopted" grandchildren, Brock and Brynn Benware; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her step-mother, Barbara J. (Osher) Perry; and her brother-in-law, Maurice Favreau.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 6 to 7 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 7 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William G. Reamer, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the family section of the Church of the Assumption Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to Saranac Fire Dept. or the Saranac Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.
