Obituary of Marie D. Bova

Marie D. Bova, 93, formerly of Paine Street, Peru, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh.

Marie was born in Churubusco, New York, on February 13, 1925, the daughter of Maxim and Rose (Dupuis) Patnode. She was a 1942 graduate of Chateaugay High School.

She was married on July 18, 1953, at St. Philomena's Church in Churubusco to James A. Bova, who predeceased her on September 12, 2007.

Marie was employed at Chevrolet and Curtis-Wright in Buffalo, manufacturing airplane parts during World War II, and then at the Department of Social Services in Plattsburgh until her marriage. Following James's retirement from the Air Force, they settled in Peru where she worked as a secretary for the Peru Central School District from 1970 until her retirement in 1988.

She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Peru.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Christopher Payette of Keeseville and Janine and Peter Henry of Hamburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Marcy Bova of Cadyville and Mark and Amy Bova of Papillion, Nebraska; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Luva Bourcier of Malone and Leila Wood of St. Louis, Missouri, and one sister-in-law, Theresa Patnode of Malone.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Floyd, Gerald, Donald, and Lawrence Patnode, and a sister, Beulah LaDuke.

At Marie's request, there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10 am at St. Augustine's Church in Peru, with burial following at St. Patrick's Cemetery on the Patent Road.

Donations in Marie's memory may be made to the St. Augustine's Building Fund.
