Alice M. Lockwood, 96, of Dubois Road, Champlain, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Brooklyn on February 25, 1927, the daughter of John and Eva (Marquand) Sebukaty. Alice was married to Robert Lockwood in 1951, and had a cute home in West Babylon where they raised their three children. She enjoyed being a mom, more than when she was a secretary on Wall Street! One of her biggest joys was having her parents move from Brooklyn to her home, where they remained until they passed away. Her bond with her mother was very strong, being an only child, and their conversations over dinner were always fun to listen to. Robert's passing in 1988 changed her life, but she continued to enjoy being a grandmother and great grandmother as the years went on to the ten grand kids and seventeen greats. Alice was very active in her parish ministries, and did home Eucharistic visits, and visits to the nursing homes for many years. Alice was an animal lover, having enjoyed the company of her old cat for 19 years. She loved living for the past year with her daughter in Champlain partially because of the four felines who lived with them! She was the picture of pure contentment in her bed or chair, with a cat snoozing with her. Alice was a wonderful mom, confidante, mentor, and source of hugs to all of us. Her sense of humor still has us laughing even now. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Allisn Blain (Samuel) and Elizabeth Brady (Dan); and a son, Gary Lockwood (Joan); 10 grandkids, and 17 greats. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lockwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church, Champlain, with the Rev. Alan D. Shnob (ret.) celebrating. Burial in St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village Hamlet on Long Island, NY will be Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Donations in her name may be made to Samaritan's Purse, or World Central Kitchen. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers, 236-4747.
