Jacob Paul Merrill, 25, of Clinton Street, Redford, died accidentally Monday, February 6, 2023, in Franklin County. He was born in Plattsburgh, January 18, 1998, the son of Dana Paul and Kimberly Renee Merrill. He grew up in Redford and graduated from Saranac Central School in 2016. Jacob excelled in the Conservation Program at CVTEC, receiving honors, awards, scholarships, and winning trophies at the New York State Conservation Competition. He worked at Gander Mountain in Plattsburgh. As the outdoor enthusiast he was, his family would chuckle as he ended up spending more there than he made. He has been employed at CAMSO for the previous five years. Jacob was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and operating off-road vehicles of all kinds. Jacob was a kind hearted guy who would help anyone in need. He also loved to make people laugh with a good joke. He was an excellent cook and made sure no one who was with him, went hungry. Jacob was a gentle giant, always there to hug his family and friends, and was a true best friend. He was a hard working man, always putting in the extra mile, always smiling, always did his best in anything and everything, always told the truth, and was an all around beautiful person loved by many. Left to cherish the memory of Jacob are, his parents, Dana and Kimberly Merrill; sister, Mikayla Merrill; grandparents, Jean and Larry Merrill; and uncles and aunts, Darren and Colleen Merrill and Mark and Cathy Merrill.
