Dorothy Ann (Turner) Ormsby, 90, of Cindy Lane, Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at her home, under the loving care of her family. She was born in Plattsburgh on April 14, 1932 the daughter of Russell and Elizabeth (Stone) Turner. Dorothy Turner Ormsby grew up in Schuyler Falls where she met her husband of 69+ years, Roland E Ormsby. They met when they were 14. They had five beautiful children and made life for themselves in Wappingers Falls NY. She was a devoted wife and mother. Together they lived an active life enjoying square dancing and camping intermediately, they had a passion for skiing making it a family affair. In their later years, 50+ years, they started motorcycling across the county, leaving for 6 weeks at a time. They enjoyed adventurous and long traveling excursions on cruises around the world. Left to cherish the memory of Dorothy are her children, Karen Rodriquez, Brian Ormsby, Sharon (Deborah O'Connell) Ormsby, and Laura (Todd) Kolvenbach; grandchildren, Greggory R. Bennett, Jennann Rodriquez, Jessica L. Ormsby, John A. Ormsby, Hailey P. (Julie) Fabia, Madison A. (Sean) Fogarty, Nicole K. (Brian) Rodriquez, and Toddy A. Kolvenbach, Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Brayden, McKenna and Cameron Fogarty, and Julian Rodriquez and Estella and Evelyn Kolvenbach; brother, Frank (Gloria) Turner of Bradenton FL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Robin and Harold Ormsby of Schuyler Falls; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Roland E. Ormsby of Wappinger Falls; her daughter, Cheryl L. Ormsby Timbs; and grandchildren, Bradley C. Fabia, Joshua Rodriguez, James Rodriguez, and Taylor W. Timbs. Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 4 to 6 pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 6 pm in the Hamilton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. Ken Parker, Pastor of the Essex Community Church, officiating. Committal prayers and burial will be held in the spring in the Schuyler Falls Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation: Pancreatic Cancer Research in memory of her daughter, Cheryl Lynn.
