Florence P. Powers, 97, of Route 22, Main Street, Peru, New York, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 26th 2022, with her loving family by her side. Florence was born in Peru, New York, July 22, 1924, the daughter of the late Robert and Mae (White) Pelkey. Florence was a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading. Left to cherish the memory of Florence are, three daughters, Patricia Stewart Jaehn of Plattsburgh, Nicole Powers (companion Richard Frenyea) of Plattsburgh and Melody (husband Thomas) Lemieux of Peru; three grandchildren, Brad Jaehn of Chicago, Illinois (wife Gina Purpura-Jaehn); David Lemieux (wife Amada), Julia Lemieux (companion Zachary Miner); two great-grandsons, Hunter and Holden Jaehn of Chicago, Illinois; and a sister, Clara Bruce. Florence was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Powers (January 7, 2008), first husband, Harry Stewart (killed during the Normandy Invasion, 1944, at 22 years of age) sister, Doris Pelkey (February 8, 2010) and son-in-law, Keith Jaehn (December 19, 2009). Calling hours will be Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 10 to 11:30 am at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A prayer service will follow at 11:30 in the Hamilton Funeral Home chapel with Rev. William G. Reamer, CVPH chaplain, presiding. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the Peru Cemetery, Inc.
