Gary Richard Burke, 70, of Allen Hill Road, Peru died May 10, 2022 at his home where he resided for 33 years with his loving family by his side and Hospice of the North Country. He was born at Chelsea Naval Hospital, Chelsea, MA, February 10, 1952, the son of Robert Raymond and Joan Scott (Parker) Burke. Gary was raised in Gloucester, MA. He graduated from Gloucester High School and Newman Prep School. He loved the ocean to fish on the back shores where he would deep sea fish and snorkel for lobsters. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting in the mountains with his friends and family and gardening, planting flowers and vegetables. Gary enjoyed working the community service group. Gary was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. He retired from the Village of Keeseville where he worked for 17-1/2 years. He was a kind, loving man with a big heart. “You took the rainbow trail to heaven and painted a beautiful sky that morning.” The family would like to thank Hospice of the North Country for the excellent care and support they provided. Left to cherish the memory of Gary are, his loving wife of 36 happy years, Robin Burke; daughter, Amanda Burns and husband, Todd from Lady Lake, FL; granddaughter, Tegan Burns; mother, Joan Burke of Gloucester, MA; brother, Steve Burke and wife, Irene from Gloucester, MA; sisters, Sheila MacDowell and companion, Kirk Perry from Exeter, NH, and Julie Whitaker and husband, Jeff from Gilford, NH; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Robert R. Burke. Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday, May 15, 2022 from Noon to 2 PM at Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel.
