Delor J. Duquette, 87, of Garrand Road, Mooers, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Coopersville on December 13, 1934, the son of Lucien, Sr. and Elizabeth (Stegner) Duquette. In 1954 Delor joined the United States Air Force. He spent 3 years in England before returning to the United States. He was honorably discharged in 1958. He worked on farms and at the Foundry in Plattsburgh. He later moved to Waterford and worked in the glass industry for 30 years. He joined the Local 1272 Union out of Albany, worked at the Federal Prison in Ray Brook in 1978 and the ice skating rink and ski jump in the 1979 Olympics. He also worked on Pyramid North in Plattsburgh and the Canadian border to New Jersey, from Boston to Buffalo. Later he bought a portable sawmill and sawed thousands of feet of lumber. He sawed for many camps, homes, barns, and garages in Vermont and New York. He loved the outdoors, camping, working on his sawmill and listening to bluegrass music. He loved spending time with loved ones; especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Delor is survived by his life partner; Eugina Williams. He is also survived by his daughter, Julie Upton and her husband, Leroy of Mooers; three grandchildren, Amanda Upton of Delmar, Tracy Menard and her husband, Andrew of Mooers, and Eric Upton and his wife Anna Pape; great-grandchildren, Lexi Menard and Zac Menard, his brothers, Lucien, Jr. and Betty Duquette of Zephyrhills, FL; sisters, Loretta of Toronto, Ontario, Rita and Louis Latour of Zephyrhills, FL, Rose and Donald Colgan of Mooers Forks, Theresa and Ed Bosley of Zephyrhills, FL and Bernadette Decoste of Zephyrhills, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth in 2005 and Lucien, Sr. in 1977; brother, Robert in 1957; and brother-in-law, Lionel Decoste. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM at Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Mooers Forks. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Mausoleum, Ellenburg Depot followed by a reception at the Mooers Fire Department. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Delor Duquette may be made to the Mooers Fire Department. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers, 236-4747.
