Spencer Ross Stafford, Sr., 70, of Willsboro turned the lights off and closed the garage doors for the last time on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, surrounded by family and some of his close friends. He was the youngest of seven children born to the late Walter E. and Doris (Higby) Stafford. Spencer graduated from Willsboro Central School and continued his education at Canton College. He served his country in the United States Army. Spencer started his work ethic at a very young age by forming Spencer's Radio Repair. He then became a master mechanic starting at Egglefield Ford then later working many years at Reynolds Chevrolet. You could always find him in the garage at home where he helped everyone. He dedicated his life to fixing things. No matter what the problem he would have a solution. His famous words of "We can engineer it!" came into so many projects. Spencer was on the Willsboro Town Council for over 30 years, was a member of the Elks and was a Mason. Spencer married the love of his life Eleanor Jean (Flora) Stafford on February 10th, 1973. Together they traveled to all 50 states and many NASCAR events. Their lives focused on taking care of family and friends. They spent time listening to music and going to tractor pulls. Spencer loved to have a good time. He loved to share stories over beers with friends. His sarcastic grin was one no one will ever forget. If he picked on you then you knew he liked you, which was basically everyone. Left to cherish the memory of Spencer are, his daughter, Samantha Rae Stafford; three siblings, Rodney Stafford (Rosalie), Eunice Jones, and Connie Pattee; sister-in-law, Annette Flora; grandchildren to continue the legacy, Skiler Rae Stafford (William Gay), Spencer Ross Stafford, III, Sterlin Ryan Stafford, Sadie Renee Stafford, Sayge Rylee Stafford, Marcus Andrew Carson and Kaili Alexa Bourdeau; great-granddaughter, Raea Jean Gay; and many dear friends, nephews, nieces, and extended relatives. In addition to his parents, Spencer was predeceased by his wife Eleanor Jean Stafford in 2017; son, Spencer Ross Stafford, Jr. in 2012; several siblings; in-laws; and numerous other relatives. In following Spencer's wishes there will be no public services. "Just another quick one." Donations in Spencer Ross Stafford Sr.'s memory may be made to High Peaks Hospice. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
