Shirley M. Root, 89, of Willsboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the UVM Health Network – CVPH, Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Keene Valley on February 23, 1932, the daughter of Richard and Lillian (Betters) Jacquish. Shirley got married at 18 years old in a double wedding with her brother, Millard Jacquish and sister-in-law, Joyce Blanchard. She and Bud had three children. Shirley worked as a nurse assistant for many years and then after retirement she was a nanny in her daycare and loved all the children. Shirley loved being surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In later years, Shirley’s biggest enjoyment was taking rides looking for deer. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Butch of New York, New York; daughter, Doreen (Raymond) of Willsboro; and son, Michael (Marie) of Peru; grandchildren, Clyde (Victoria), Casey (Tom), Ryan (Courtney), Hannah (Lewis); great grandchildren, Andrea and Leah Caron, Whitney and Caden Root, Madisyn, Ashlyn and Korilyn Pfund, Gabby, Kailye, and Landon Pfund; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life, Bud Root; several siblings; and grandson, Cory Pfund. There will be no public calling hours. A Graveside Service will be held in the spring in Memorial Cemetery, Willsboro. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Shirley M. Root may be made to the Willsboro EMS.
