It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Virginia M. Sayward, 87, of Willsboro, NY. Virginia passed away Friday, December 3, 2021 at the UVM Medical Center, Burlington, VT, due to surgical complications. She was surrounded by her loving family at her side. Virgina was born in Willsboro on December 8, 1933, the daughter of William and Mary (Lashway) White. She graduated from Willsboro Central School in 1952 and was married to Roy C. Sayward Sr. October 17, 1953 for 58 years. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother of four, grandmother of nine, and great grandmother of eight. She was a housewife, homemaker, and worked at the Essex County Nursing Home. Later in life she worked as a cook at a nursing home in Latham, NY, a home caregiver and a cook at the food court in Malta, NY. She retired in 1991 and moved back to Willsboro, NY with her husband Roy. Her hobbies included knitting, baking, camping with her husband, Roy and their grandchildren. She also enjoyed many family gatherings throughout the years, with a good Manhattan in hand. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kelly Sayward Sr. of Willsboro, NY; Joanne (Tom) Boucher of Stillwater, NY; Kimberly (Bret Lawson) Buck of Willsboro, NY and Roy (Lorie) Sayward Jr. of Peru, NY; Grandchildren: Kelly Sayward Jr., Jason Sayward, Tom Boucher Jr., Alyssa (Mike) Boucher, Justin (Amanda) Buck, Kristen (Matt) Buck-Cashin, Karin Buck, Matthew (Jessica) Sayward and Cody (Jerrica) Sayward. Great grandchildren: Conner Sayward; Kaelee, Alivia, and Julia Bouleris; Abigail and Catherine Buck; Blake and Harper Sayward. Sisters, Margaret Parkinson and Julia Sheehan; brother-in-laws Robert (Doreena) Sayward, Rolland (Betty) Sayward, Roger Sayward, and Donald Sayward; sister-in-law Donna McKenna. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roy, Sr. (2012), her brothers, George and Frank White, and sisters, Mary Feltt and Teresa Tart. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Paul White officiating. A burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Willsboro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Virginia M. Sayward to the Willsboro Rescue Squad. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
