Donald Andrew “Donnie” Sorrell, Jr., 81, of Route 22 B, Morrisonville, died Saturday, November 6, 2021 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Plattsburgh on July 16, 1940, the son of Donald, Sr. and Sarah (Rougeau) Sorrell. Donnie worked for Cumberland Motors as a mechanic. He served in the United States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina from 1958-1962. After leaving the Army he went back to Cumberland Motors before going to work at NYSEG from 1967-1998. He started out as a mechanic and worked his way up to Supervisor of the Transportation Department. Donnie retired after working there for 31 years. Donnie and Carol bowled in a mixed league for several years. He bowled 3 perfect games and 4-700 series games. Donnie enjoyed golfing and fishing. He also enjoyed going for long walks with his wife, Carol throughout the City of Plattsburgh and in the country near their house. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Carol (Tripp) Sorrell; children, Brenda (Lawrence) Mousseau and son, Michael Sorrell; grandchildren, Dustin and Tami Mousseau and Ryan Sorrell; brother, Peter (Judy) Sorrell; five sisters, Marilyn Delany, Judy (Scott) Campbell, Donna (Carl) Bouyea, Sandy (Cleland) McDonald, and Beverly Sabourin; and several nieces and nephews. Donnie was predeceased by his parents. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 2 to 4 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel at 4 PM with the Rev. William G. Reamer, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Alexander’s Cemetery, Morrisonville. A reception will follow at the American Legion Post 1619, Rand Hill Road, Morrisonville from 5 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donald Andrew Sorrell, Jr. may be made to Hospice the North Country.
