Lawrence Gilbert Gadway, Jr., 79, of Mooers Forks, New York passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vermont. Larry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou, and their three daughters and spouses, Donna and Carl Silver of Burlington, VT, Julie and Chris Graeter of Colchester, VT, Melissa and Floyd Vilmont of Colchester, VT. Larry is survived by their eight grandchildren, Sarah (Adam), Abbie & Ben Silver, Alex, Nick & Lizzie Graeter, and Melissa Ann (Paul) Sears and Payton Jo Vilmont. He is survived by his siblings, Annabelle LaForest, Marilyn (Gary) Provoncha, Russell (Pam) Gadway, Mike (Jana) Gadway, Ronnie Gadway and Jeff (Lori) Gadway. He is predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Geneva and sister, Barbara Braun. During his youth, Larry worked with his dad and brothers on the family farm, played basketball, and enjoyed cars and snowmobiles. As a young adult he co-owned a milking farm with his brother in-law from 1970-1975 and worked in construction for Defabio and Bartoli for 9 years. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus during this time, volunteering for various events. After he put farming behind him, he joined Ayrest Laboratories working as a forklift operator for 29 years. During this same time he spent countless hours following his three daughters' sporting activities and managed to get down to Florida each year for a family vacation. Post-retirement, he worked at the North Country Golf Club from 2003 to 2020. Larry enjoyed time wintering in Florida with Mary Lou and their friends and family; golfing, gambling, and trying new restaurants. He certainly had a full and happy life. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Out of respect for Larry's wishes there will not be calling hours. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church, 3066 US Route 11, Mooers Forks, NY on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 10:30 am with a graveside service to follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a reception to celebrate Larry's long life at the Rainbow Wedding and Banquet Hall, The Barn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Larry's name to McClure Miller Respite House or St. Ann's Church.
