Marcelete M. “Peggy” St. Clair, 80, of the Fred Thew Road, Peru, died Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the UVM Health Network – CVPH Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Harkness on April 18, 1941, the daughter of Orville and Phyllis (Carter) Keyes. Peggy was a wonderful woman with a smile that filled every room she entered. She was always kind and she was always unconditional with her love. Peggy’s joy was being with her family. She had a very special relationship with her granddaughter, Kaitlyn and her son, Rory. Peggy’s love was also extended to the many foster kids she had taken in over the years. Even with dementia, Peggy’s love didn’t change. She loved and relied on “that man” (her husband). He made a promise to her to be there until the end and he was. Peggy left her footprints on the hearts of everyone who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 38 years, John F. St. Clair; son, Danny Baker (Kristi); daughter, Lynn McCarty (Doug); daughter-in-law, Connie Baker (Ricky); grandchildren, Sean, Joshua, Shannon, Trevor, Leanna, Kaitlyn, Jessa, and Shania; great-grandchildren, Rory, Korynn, Gabriel, Caiden, and Aliyah; all of her foster kids; sisters, Pat Brown and Dorothy Prinsen (Dennis); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her sons, Ricky Baker, and Jack Baker; sisters, Jane Souliere, Mary Renelle, and Connie Lafontaine; and her brother, James Keyes and his wife, Mildred Keyes. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 9 to 11 AM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Burial will follow in the Harkness Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Peggy St. Clair may be made to the Harkness United Methodist Church. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
