Guy P. Rotz, 80, of Plattsburgh, NY passed away peacefully in his home on September 8th, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 12th, 1940, in Rays Cove, Pennsylvania, son of Eliza and Walter Rotz. Guy attended Green Hill High School in Pennsylvania and graduated top 10 in his class. Guy devoted 26 years of his life to the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1958 and retired in 1984 as a Chief Master Sergeant serving as maintenance superintendent of the 380th Bomb Wing. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, who received multiple accolades including recipient of a Bronze Star and Top 12 Airmen of the Year. During his time in the service, Guy married the absolute love of his life and number one supporter, Elizabeth “Betty” E. Phillips on August 10th, 1963. Together, the two of them had three amazing children: Kevin Michael, Tracy Jon, and Tamala Dawn. Their one-of-a-kind marriage lasted 50 years celebrated with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. After his retirement from the United States Air Force, Guy enjoyed spending his time traveling and sight-seeing throughout the United States with his loving wife Betty. Together, they successfully travelled to 48 states; however, Guy was able to achieve his goal of visiting all 50 states. Guy loved socializing and spending time with his family, friends and giving back to his community. He was an active member of the Plattsburgh Lions Club, American Legion, and Peru Community Church, where he was appointed and ordained the position of Elder. He is survived by his children: Tracy Rotz and his wife Cynthia Rotz and Tamala Gheller and her husband Brain Gheller, daughter-in-law Mika Worden, grandchildren: Justine, Brett, and Lucas Rotz, Michael and Joseph Gheller, great-grandchild, Tessa Renee and loving companion, Kathy Confoy. Guy was predeceased by his wife: Elizabeth “Betty” Rotz, and son: Kevin Rotz. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the three amazing women: Melissa, Michelle, and Andrea, who cared for Guy during these terrible times, allowing him to remain in his home. Guy has requested no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 14th, 2021 at 11am at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru. In lieu of flowers, donations in Guy’s memory may be made to the St. Jude’s Foundation. Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 643-9055.
