Joan M. Lange, 76, of Harkness, passed away April 27, 2021 and was reunited with her love, Carl. The last few years were difficult for Joan. She lost her beloved husband, endured complicated operations, and received a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. Over the years she worked hard at various jobs. What stole her heart was being a special education teaching assistant. Joan loved children and they loved her. She was Mrs. Lange in school and to everyone else she was Grandma Joan. Joan was the daughter of Marie (Covel) and Ralph Arthur. She was one of ten children. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah (Daniel) Defayette, and Eric (Cheryl) Lange; four grandchildren, Bethany (David) White, Courtney (Alex) St. Pierre, Ethan and Haeleigh Lange; four great-grandchildren, Brin and Levi White, and Clara and Logan St. Pierre (who they affectionately called “Nana”). Joan also leaves behind sisters, Linda Arthur, Thelma Lyon, and Hilda Curtis; sister-in-law, Dee (Dick) Jenkins; brothers-in-law, Bill (Flo) Lange and John (Ruth) Lange; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by the love of her life, Carl, and much missed daughter, Laura; siblings, Charles (Marion) Arthur, Lois (Milton) Wrisley, Ralph (Betty-Lou) Arthur, George Curtis, Cora (Hubert) LaBounty, Edwin Arthur, and Willis Arthur. Many thanks to her caregivers at the end; Linda, Thelma and Barb Arthur. Also Cheryl, Pam Besaw and especially Deborah. A big thank you to Carla Arthur, as well. Thank you to the Meadowbrook staff who kept Joan happy and loved. Many thanks to the staff at CVPH and UVM, Vermont. They went above and beyond for Joan and her family.
