Gary Lawrence Spooner, Sr., 79, of Morrow Lane, Keeseville, died Monday, February 10, 2020 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Keeseville, July 30, 1940, the son of Frank and Hilda (Colvin) Spooner. He grew up in Keeseville and attended Keeseville High School. At age 16 he joined Union Local 186. His construction career spanned his adult life and he was proud to have received the 50 year gold card. He also served as a Union Trustee for more than 20 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening and was known for his extra large pumpkins and tomatoes. Left to cherish the memory of Gary are, his wife of 57 years, Jennie (Gregory) Spooner, whom he married August 29, 1962 in Reno, Nevada; three children, Gary, Jr. and his companion, Sharon Kemp, James Spooner and his wife, Kay Klem Spooner, and Barbara Spooner and her companion, Mark Calkins, Sr.; four grandchildren, Kyle Spooner, Kristoff Spooner, Mark Calkins, Jr., and Natasha Burrell; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Olivia; three brothers, Tyler Spooner, Stacy Spooner, and Robert Colvin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. At Gary's request there will be no public calling hours or services. Donations in his memory may be made to The Foundation of CVPH.
