She was born on September 21, 1927 to Richard G. and Margaret (Reynolds) Tyrrell at the family home on Tyrrell Hill in the Town of Mayfield, NY. Mrs. Hoff was educated at Mayfield Central School. She left school just weeks before graduation in order to take a job to support her ailing mother.
She married Albert W Hoff on October 13, 1945. Together they raised 7 children. Shirley spent most of her working career making and designing gloves at Ambroson Gloves in Gloversville, NY. She retired in her late 60's but still enjoyed sewing and quilt making until recent years. A woman of strong Christian faith, she was a member of the Perth Bible Church, Adirondack Baptist Church and most recently, the Westport Bible Church, where her late son, Dick, served as pastor for 40 years.
She is survived by these children: Dawn (Bob) Berry of Staunton, VA, Cheryl (Doug) Bauman of Stevensville, MT, Evelyn (Bob) Procita of Reidsville, NC, Mike (Janet) Hoff of Elizabethtown, NY and Barb (Dave) Wager of Lincolnton, NC, daughter-in-law, Lynn Hoff of Westport, NY, plus 39 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank Lynn Hoff, Sally Burdo, Maria Bledsaw; Yvonne Ashline, Meadowbrook Nursing Home and Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital for their tender care of our Mom in her last months and days. Your compassion and love for our Mom was apparent in everything that you did.
