Carolyn A. Finnegan, 87, of Chesterfield Street, Keeseville, died peacefully Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital.
She was born in Plattsburgh, March 2, 1932, the daughter of Lawrence and Una (Girard) Graves.
Carolyn grew up in Malone and graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone NY. She earned a nursing degree at Champlain Valley Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She worked at CVPH for many years and loved working in the OR and later did Private Duty Nursing for Intensive Care Patients prior to retiring in 1973.
She married James H. Finnegan on January 8, 1955 at St. Peter's Church, Plattsburgh NY. James died January 31, 2000.
Carolyn loved her large family enjoying many gatherings together. She spoke often of the good fortune to have great times with many good friends. She had a sophisticated sense of style and loved her jewelry. She was a devout Christian woman who served the Lord her entire life and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville, NY.
Left to cherish the memory of Carolyn are, her children; 3 daughters, Lynn Hathaway (Roger) of Keeseville, Laurie Kowalowski (Peter) of Saranac, Betsy Finnegan (Mike Perrotte) of Schuyler Falls; 5 sons, Stephen Finnegan of Port Kent, Michael Finnegan of Keeseville, Bruce Finnegan of Keeseville, Shawn Finnegan (Bonnie) of Keeseville and James Finnegan III of Keeseville; eleven grandchildren, Kyle, Kody, Joshua, Jessica, Jena, Jaimee, Jordan, Dustin, Leigh, Lucas, Averie; two great-grandchildren; Evelyn and Jack; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Stephanie Finnegan; her brother, Gerald Graves; and step-father, Norman Bouyea.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from Noon to 2 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. Members of the Nursing Honor Guard will offer the Nurses Prayer and Nursing Tributes at 12:45 PM, in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville with the Rev. Kris C. Lauzon, parish priest, celebrating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held at the Keeseville Elks Lodge, Keeseville, NY, immediately following the burial.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
