Donald D. Miner, 94, of the Pup Hill Road, Redford, died Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Redford, July 12, 1924, the son of Charles and Anna (Facteau) Miner. He grew up in Redford and graduated from Sallaz Academy in 1939. He married the former Evelyn Fournia, October 3, 1945 at the Assumption of Mary Church in Redford. Evelyn predeceased him June 15, 1997.
He was an Operating Engineer with the Union Local 106 for more than 50 years. He also owned and operated Skyline Ski Center in Redford for a few years.
Donald served the Town of Saranac as a Councilman and Justice of the Peace for many years. He was a charter member of the Saranac Fire Dept. and member of the Dannemora Knights of Columbus. Donald enjoyed golfing, hunting, snowmobiling, camping, and traveling.
Left to cherish the memory of Donald are, his children, Bonita (John) St. John of Plattsburgh, Jane (Chuck) Barton of Redford, and Ron (Annette) Miner of Redford; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by siblings, Mitchell, Henry, Ethel, Jean, and George.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 3 to 6 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 31, 2018 at 10 AM at the Church of the Assumption with Rev. John M. "Mickey" Demo, parish priest, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Church of the Assumption.
