Obituary of Albert Daniels

Albert A. "Al" Daniels, 78, of the Military Turnpike, Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the UVM Health Network, CVPH, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Essex, August 4, 1939, the son of Oakley and Ruth (Pierce) Daniels. Al grew up in Elizabethtown, NY and attended Elizabethtown High School. Following school he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1960. Later in 1960 he enlisted in the United States Navy and again served his country proudly until his honorable discharge in 1964.

Al drove for the UPS for 31 years and retired in 1995. He was an active member of the Fountain Brothers American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh and served as past Commander from 1998 to 1999 and had been the Facility Manager since 2004. He also served on the House Committee of the American Legion, was an active member of the Post funeral honor guard, and umpired the Legion's softball leagues.

Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, watching sports, blackberry picking, and Texas hold'em. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and especially loved his camp in Loon Lake and dining out with his lovely wife.

Left to cherish the memory of Al are, his loving wife of 51 years, Bonne (Bigelow) Daniels, whom he married on May 28, 1966 in Westport, NY; his two children, Timothy Daniels and longtime companion Lara LaDieu, and Amy Daniels and her husband, James St. Dennis; grandchildren TJ Daniels and his companion, Karissa Wood, Cori-Ann (Daniels) Martineau and her husband Chad, Andrew St.Dennis, Ethan St.Dennis, and a granddaughter on the way; a great grandchild Mickael Blaise; siblings, Robert Daniels, Mike Daniels and his wife, Donna; sister-in-law, Roberta Daniels; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Carroll "Carl" Daniels, and George "Oakley" Daniels, Sr.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 2 to 4 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. Full military honors will follow at 4 PM at the Hamilton Veterans Memorial. A reception will follow at the American Legion Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh.
