Herbert G. Wemette

Keeseville – Herbert G. Wemette, 92, of Prospect Road, Keeseville, died Monday, July 24, 2017 at his home under the loving care of his wife and High Peaks Hospice of Essex County.

He was born in Port Kent, January 30, 1925, the son of Frank M. and Mary (Marvin) Wemette. Herb served in the US Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for Francis Bezio and the AuSable Valley Telephone Company, both of Keeseville.

Herb was a member of the Chesterfield Fish and Game Club, a lifetime member of the Keeseville VFW Post 1505 and a former member of AuSable Forks American Legion. He enjoyed puzzles, fishing, hunting, target shooting, and flying his remote control plane.

Left to cherish the memory of Herb are, his loving wife of nearly 44 years, Brenda Wemette; four children, Danny, Jerry, Tammy, and Terry Wemette; two step-children, Colleen Cushing and Naomi Smith; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Helen, Syliva, and Francis.

There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11 AM St. Augustine's Church in Peru. A reception will follow at the Keeseville VFW.

Donations in his memory may be made to High Peaks Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
