Betsy J. Pugh, 79, of the Allen Hill Road in Peru, died on Monday, April 2, 2018 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country.
She was born in Plattsburgh on January 29, 1939, the daughter of George and Ella (Mooney) Bridges.
Betsy was very involved with her community. She was the organist for local Methodist Churches, including Keeseville, Clintonville, and Harkness. She also loved bringing flowers from her gardens to decorate for church services. Betsy cherished being a member of the Harkness church family. She was an avid gardener creating beauty all over her property. Betsy was also a steward of the environment and believed in leaving a very small footprint. She loved all animals, especially bird and deer watching, as well as her cockatiel, Pauly, and her cat, Lacey.
Survivors include her siblings, brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Pat Bridges, of NC, sister, Gloria Blaha of Indiana, sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Marvin Vann of NY, sister, Susan Iverson of NC, and brother-in-law, Dennis Benamati of NY; her children, Robert Pugh and his wife Diane of Charlotte NC, Susan Lasala and her husband Don of Mamaroneck NY, Brian Pugh of Harkness NY, Sean Pugh and his wife Sherry of Peru NY, and Patricia L. Pugh of Macomb Park NY; her beloved grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Alec Pugh, Eric, Katelynn, Alex Pugh, Ian Bunk, Marcia Pugh Treat, and Sophie Pugh; great granddaughter, Miss Aubree Grace Terpstra; and Jaime Zelinski, Betsy's friend and caregiver; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betsy was predeceased by her life partner, Robert Crowley; her daughter, Kathleen Anne Pugh; and her sisters, Eva Benamati and Rose Kelly.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from Noon to 2 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edie Poland, presiding. Burial in the Pugh Cemetery will be private.
