Roy H. Poland, 78, of the Trout Pond Road, Keeseville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Keeseville, June 16, 1939, the son of Fred and Lena (Blaise) Poland.
Roy attended school in Keeseville before joining the USMC for two years. Following 23 years of dedicated service, Roy retired from the Town of Chesterfield Highway Department.
Roy enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his family and watching an occasional horse race on TV.
Left to cherish the memory of Roy are, his partner of 34 years, Ethel M. Stone; twin sons, Corey and Kyle Mace; siblings, Roger Poland, Jane McNierney and husband Nyles, and Mary Hathaway Poland; numerous nieces and nephews; and several members of his extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased a sister, Peggy Cross; and brothers, Robert and Raymond Poland.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11 AM at St. John's Church in Keeseville with Rev. Kris C. Lauzon, parish priest, celebrating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Port Douglas Cemetery.
Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
