Peru - Loretta R. Agoney, 77, of Route 22, Peru, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of the North Country.

Loretta was born in Peasleeville, April 7, 1934, the daughter of Claude and Leona (Pudvah) McKee.

Loretta was a member of the Golden Apple Senior Club of Peru, Keeseville Senior Citizens Club, Keeseville Drop-in Center, Keeseville Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens Club of AuSable Forks. She also was a past member of the Keeseville VFW Ladies Auxiliary and of the Peru Rod and Gun Club. Her generosity will be remembered for the several years she made holiday-meal gift baskets for seniors in need. She also provided small gifts for the seniors at the annual Christmas parties.

Loretta was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, camping and bingo with her senior friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a friend to all who knew her. She was the light in our lives, the warmth and comfort in our souls, the love in our hearts, our gift from God.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Eugene Agoney, two daughters and their husbands: Helen & Raymond Agoney of Peru, Penny & Tim Burl of Peru, and three sons and their wives: Billy & Paula Agoney of Keeseville, Jimmy & Tracey Agoney of Keeseville, David & Amy Agoney of Plattsburgh, and a brother, Robert McKee and his wife Carolyn of Schuyler Falls. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Loretta was predeceased by her parents, Claude and Leona McKee, three brothers: Vernon McKee, Lloyd McKee Sr., Claude R. McKee, and a sister, Valeria (McKee) Provost, a daughter-in-law, Darlee (Maze) Agoney and two grandchildren: Christopher A. Agoney and Andrea L.(Agoney) Hemingway.

Calling hours will be held Friday, January 13, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home with Rev. Edie A. Poland, officiating. Burial will follow in the Peasleeville Cemetery. A gathering will follow at the Keeseville Knights of Columbus Hall. Pallbearers will be: Raymond Agoney, Billy Agoney, Jimmy Agoney, David Agoney, Lynn Agoney, Ray Agoney, Nicholas Agoney, and Joshua Burl.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country, 358 Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh, NY, 12901. We are thankful for their care. Most of all, we are grateful to our Dad for his loving care & devotion to our Mom.
