Lawrence E. "Sonny" Brunell, Jr.
Plattsburgh - Lawrence E. "Sonny" Brunell, Jr., 58, of the Irish Settlement Road, Plattsburgh, soared with the Angels, Friday, December 23, 2011 from the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Plattsburgh, May 12, 1953, the son of Lawrence E. Sr., and Myrtle P. (Jarvis) Brunell. Sonny was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed and long remembered for his kind heart and his clowning around.
Sonny coached little league baseball for the Town of Plattsburgh from 1987 until 1998. He continued to help his granddaughters and grandsons teams in Keeseville. He loved the Peru Indians football team. He raced at Airborne Speedway for several years. Sonny loved fishing and hunting with his sons and horseshoes with his friends.

Sonny began work at a young age at Airnack River Mill, he went on to G&G Tire Co on the Plattsburgh Airbase at Runway and Golf Course, he was a foreman at Mold Rite, Plattsburgh Grocery, Peru Central School from 1978 to 1998 and lastly at OLVA School until his disability. He was an "E" Board Member and Camping Committee Member at Peru Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Donna (McDonald) Brunell; daughter, Sonyell Roy and husband Eric; sons, Christopher Brunell and companion Jessica Giddings, and Matthew Brunell and wife Jamie; grandchildren, Tamson Brunell, Miranda Roy, Trent Roy, Logan Brunell, Colton Brunell, and Allie Brunell; sisters, Betty Bishop, Peggy Bryant and husband Russell, and Tammy Goddeau and companion Tim Way; brothers, James Brunell and wife Marylin, Jerry Brunell and wife Louise, Michael Brunell, Danny Brunell, and Robert Brunell; father-in-law, Floyd McDonald; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sharron and David Charland, Lee and Shelly McDonald, Steve Miller and companion Mona McDonald, Conrad "Joe" McDonald and wife Mary, Lisa Alberct and husband Howie, Scott McDonald, and Eugean McDonald; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Barry and Missy Guilbo, and Debbie and Walt Besaw; and his Peru Rod and Gun Club family. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Donald Brunell; sister, Geraldine Fabrizo; mother-in-law, Aldora McDonald, brother-in-law, Paul McDonald; sister-in-law, Rebecca McDonald; and brothers-in-law, Robert Bishop, Sr. and Edward Goddeau.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A reception will follow at the Peru VFW Post 309.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to be dispersed at their discretion.
