Grace Ann Barnett
Plattsburgh - Grace Ann Barnett, 97, formerly of the River Road, Peru and more recently Point Au Roche, Plattsburgh, died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Penn Yan, NY, October 5, 1914 the daughter of Milton Luzern and Nina Grace (Goundry) Rapalee.

Grace attended Penn Yan Schools and New York State Agricultural College at Canton. She married George A. Barnett in 1937 and they first settled in Fort Plain where he had a job teaching high school science. She later lived in Elizabethtown, Peru and Beekmantown before becoming a resident of the Vilas Home in Plattsburgh. Grace was an active member of the Peru Community Church. In the 1950's, she partnered with Iola Thew and Peg Coryell to run the Dutch Kitchen restaurant in Peru. She enjoyed entertaining, gardening, traveling and family events. Grace was a social golfer and played well into her 80's even though she vowed to give it up when she turned 80.

She is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, George A. Barnett of Plattsburgh; son, George M. Barnett of Plattsburgh; daughter, Faith Barnett Baker of West Lebanon, NH; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Allen Rapalee; and sister, Louise Martin.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Peru Community Church with Dr. Rev. Robert E. Svenson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in God's Acre Cemetery.
