| ![]() Carl F. Lange, Jr. Peru - Carl F. Lange, Jr., 66 of the Clintonville Road, Peru died peacefully September 4, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at his home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Baltimore, MD, March 3, 1944 the son of Carl, Sr. and Virginia (Deutsch) Lange. As a child he attended many schools as he traveled with his mom and dad who were in the Air Force. He came to the area in 1957 when his father was transferred to PAFB. He was an extremely caring person. He was a man of faith and took comfort in that faith even in sickness. He loved his family immensely. He was so proud of them. He always tended to the needs of others before his own. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was everything to him. He played a big role in the lives of so many. He battled with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Throughout his illness he always maintained a positive cheerful and grateful attitude. Carl was a 1962 graduate of Keeseville Central School. In 1964 he graduated from Man Power Training Act as an Automobile Technician. He attended Clinton Community College for Business Management. He worked at Northern Diesel Service, George Parker Ford, Cumberland Motors, Kirk Eels, and NY Telephone up to his retirement in 1995 as Automotive Manager. Following retirement, he was employed at Butler Fleet, PM Savvy Service, and lastly, Hallmark Cards. Carl was very active in the Harkness Methodist Church and served for over 20 years as a Lay Leader. He served on several committees and taught Sunday school. In his younger years he loved climbing mountains, running, bike riding, reading, boating, gardening, and doing things with his family. He participated in many foot races. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joan Lange, the former Joan Arthur, whom he called "The love of his life"; daughter, Deborah Defayette and her husband, Daniel; son, Eric Lange and his wife, Cheryl (Brashear); four grandchildren, Bethany White and her husband, David, Courtney St. Pierre and her husband, Alex, Haeleigh and Ethan Lange; one great-grandchild, Brin Madison White; sister, Dee Jenkins and her husband, Dick; brothers, John Lange and his wife, Ruth and Bill Lange and his wife, Flo; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Francis and Virginia Deutsch; parents, Carl and Virginia Lange; and daughter, Laura Anne Lange. His family would like to thank Dr. Jan Duus and the entire staff at Fitzpatrick Cancer Center for their loving care during his illness. A special thank you to Hospice of the North Country for the wonderful care by all. Carl was a quiet man of few words. He will be remembered by many for his sincerity, honesty, and kindness. He had an incredible sense of humor! Calling hours will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 5 to 8pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. A celebration of Carl's life will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 11am at the Keeseville Methodist Church with Rev. Edie A. Poland, pastor, officiating.
