| ![]() Ione V. Kirby Peru - Ione V. Kirby, 96, of the Rock Road, Peru died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side. She was born in Peru, January 22, 1914 the daughter of Walter and Minnie (Clark) Kirby. Ione was employed by Valcour Lodge for many years, as well as several local restaurants. She loved playing bingo with all her bingo friends, especially Jean Herb, visiting yard sales, watching her bird feeder, and playing in her flower gardens. Survivors include her children, Shirley Aguilar and her husband, Joe of San Antonio, TX, Ron Kirby and his wife, Loretta of Morrisonville, and Alan Kirby and his companion Lori Robinson of Port Kent; grandchildren, Glenda Lapham, Chelsea Mettler, Kim Pavone, Ed Kirby, Tess Bailey and her husband Todd, Shawn Lapham, and Cher Kirby and her companion Mike Hanlon; great grandchildren, Shawn Ezero, Brittany Pavone, Adam Besaw and his fiance, Patty Griswold, Neal Kirby, Kyle Kirby, Austin Kirby, and Justine Drollette; a very close cousin, Sally Goldsmith of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; one brother, Wicker Kirby; one sister, Medaline Whyland; two grandchildren, Jessica Bell and Norton Lapham, Jr.; and great nephew, Scott Good. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 6 to 8pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11am at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, parish pastor, celebrating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center, 75 Beekman Street, Plattsburgh, NY, 12901.
