Keeseville/Florida - Frank T. Finnegan, 92, of Dunedin, Florida died unexpectedly Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Keeseville, June 6, 1918 the son of Frank T. and Margaret (Laundree) Finnegan. He grew up in Keeseville and graduated from Keeseville Central School in 1936 and Albany Business College in 1938.

Frank served in the United States Army Air Corp with the Flying Tigers in China until his honorable discharge in 1946. He received three bronze stars. After the service he worked for State Engineers Highway Division for three years. He was employed with the New York State Corrections until retiring in 1974 and in the summer months Frank was a boatman at AuSable Chasm. He was lastly active in the Keeseville community as Town Assessor for many years.

He was a Charter Member of the Keeseville Elks Lodge #2072, the Keeseville VFW, and a member of the Bluff Point Country Club and the Dunedin Country Club in Florida for many years. Frank was an avid golfer, having shot five hole in ones, three at Bluff Point and two at Dunedin. He was the first person to strike 700 at the Keeseville Bowling Lanes. He also enjoyed traveling between Florida and the North Country and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include LaVerne (Finnegan) Eades of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada; his children, Margaret "Peggy" McCormick and her husband, Bruce of Peru, Thomas Finnegan and his wife, Cathy of Palm Harbor, FL, and Barrie Finnegan and his fiancé, Lisa LaBarre of Plattsburgh; grandchildren, Melissa (McCormick) Hevner and her husband, Bryson, Matthew, and Andrew McCormick, and Michelle, David, Derrick, Julie, Meagan, and Christopher Finnegan; four great grandchildren; his siblings, Agnes Smith of Waterville, Maine, and Charles "Skip" Finnegan and his wife Janice of Queensbury; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Kathleen L. Finnegan, 2002, five sisters and one brother, Elizabeth Light, Gertrude Greene, Dorothy Holden, Martha Meschinelli, Edna Brown, and James Finnegan.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 3 to 7pm at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 124 Clinton Street, Keeseville. Members of the Keeseville Elks Lodge #2072 will meet for a 6pm service at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 11am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Keeseville with Rev. William Reamer, CVPH Chaplain, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
